QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Possess all valid licenses to drive a school bus.
  2. Such additional requirements as the Board may require.

REPORTS TO:          

Director of Transportation

 

JOB GOAL:              

Provide safe and efficient transportation for students on regular class schedules, as well as on trips for cocurricular activities and field trips.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Obey all traffic laws.
  2. Operate bus in a safe and efficient manner, and observe all mandatory safety regulations.
  3. Maintain discipline when students are on the bus, and report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
  4. Keep assigned bus clean.
  5. Check bus before each operation for mechanical defects. Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  6. Discharge students only at authorized stops, and pick-up only authorized students at authorized pick-up stops.
  7. Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
  8. Effectively implement emergency procedures when required.
  9. Demonstrate knowledge of inspection standards required by Federal and State Highway Patrol and Department of Education and Board of Education policies and procedures.
  10. Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Board of Education or the Superintendent of Schools.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
