QUALIFICATIONS:
- Missouri Teaching Certificate AND/OR be Licensed by Missouri Board of Healing Arts.
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
- Any alternative to qualifications as Board of Education agrees to.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: Utilize remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency. These services are designed to help children meet their educational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Major Function: Planning and Oversight
- Implements a program that addresses local school speech-language goals.
- Works Cooperatively with school personnel to accomplish the goals and objectives of the LEA.
- Coordinates speech-language services with student services provided by other school personnel.
- Collaborates with school personnel, such as regular ed. and special ed. teachers and additional Special Ed. staff, to best meet the needs of all students.
- Meets with related school personnel to implement specific objectives for individualized educational programs.
- Maintains records of the speech-language program and prepares periodic reports as required.
- Adheres to established rules, regulations, laws and appropriate ethical standards.
- Major Function: Screening, Testing, Diagnosing, and Advising
- Conducts speech, language, and hearing screenings.
- Serves on student intervention team/IEP team as appropriate.
- Works with other professionals to carry out the screening process.
- Uses appropriate screening instruments.
- Administers formal and informal assessments.
- Observes students in educational environments.
- Selects appropriate assessments based on individual student needs.
- Administers tests according to acceptable procedures
- Obtains additional diagnostic information from appropriate persons and available records for speech-language purposes.
- Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services.
- Provides appropriate information on an informal or formal basis regarding speech, language, and hearing programs.
- Major Function: Adhering to Local, State, and Federal Regulations and Ethical Practices.
- Completes procedural documentation appropriately.
- Demonstrates knowledge and use of statewide testing procedures.
- Abides by professional code of ethics.
- Develops appropriate IEP’s based on students’ strengths and needs.
- Demonstrates awareness of professional performance in due process matters and litigious environments.
- Manages time efficiently.
- Engages in continuing education and professional growth opportunities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
