QUALIFICATIONS: The Curriculum and Instruction Director shall meet state qualifications plus any special qualifications set forth by the Board of Education.  The Director shall possess thorough knowledge of national and/or state curriculum standards.

 

REPORTS TO:           Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent

 

SUPERVISES:                        Staff members and programs as the Superintendent may designate.

 

JOB GOAL:               The Curriculum and Instruction Director shall direct the planning, delivery, assessment and ongoing improvement of curriculum and instruction programs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Coordinates the development and implementation of written curriculum in all subject areas following the State and District cycles as appropriate and/or at the direction of Administration.

 

  1. Develops a district wide plan for curriculum study and improvement consistent with the district vision, mission and goals.

 

  1. Establishes and implements an effective horizontal and vertical integration and articulation of the instructional program throughout the district.

 

  1. Works with Administrative and Instructional Staff to determine course additions and grade placements.

 

  1. Assists in the data analysis process.

 

  1. Monitors textbook and supplementary material selection used in education programs in the district.

 

  1. Supervises the administration and analysis of all state and local testing programs within the district including the district-wide assessment plan.

 

  1. Oversees and implements federal program budget and building programs including but not limited to Title I, Title II and Title VI.

 

  1. Supports all aspects of district instructional and curriculum integration of technology.

 

  1. Researches effective instructional practices and plan for training and implementation.

 

  1. Plans and implements professional development activities for certified and support employees, including research-based instructional practices, and assisting site administrators and teacher in planning staff development activities at the building level.

 

  1. Engages in an ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the district’s instructional programs and services.

 

  1. Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Board of Education or the Superintendent of Schools.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary, work year, and vacation to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:         Performance in this position shall be evaluated annually by the Board of Education, taking into consideration the recommendation of the Superintendent.
