  1. Missouri Teaching Certificate AND/OR be Licensed by Missouri Board of Healing Arts.
  2. Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
  3. Any alternative to qualifications as Board of Education agrees to.

 REPORTS TO:           Building Principal

 JOB GOAL:              Utilize remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency.  These services are designed to help children meet their educational goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Major Function:  Planning and Oversight
  2. Implements a program that addresses local school speech-language goals.
  3. Works Cooperatively with school personnel to accomplish the goals and objectives of the LEA.
  4. Coordinates speech-language services with student services provided by other school personnel.
    • Collaborates with school personnel, such as regular ed. and special ed. teachers and additional Special Ed. staff, to best meet the needs of all students.
    • Meets with related school personnel to implement specific objectives for individualized educational programs.
  5. Maintains records of the speech-language program and prepares periodic reports as required.
  6. Adheres to established rules, regulations, laws and appropriate ethical standards.
  7. Major Function:  Screening, Testing, Diagnosing, and Advising
  8. Conducts speech, language, and hearing screenings.
    • Serves on student intervention team/IEP team as appropriate.
    • Works with other professionals to carry out the screening process.
    • Uses appropriate screening instruments.
  9. Administers formal and informal assessments.
    • Observes students in educational environments.
    • Selects appropriate assessments based on individual student needs.
    • Administers tests according to acceptable procedures
  10. Obtains additional diagnostic information from appropriate persons and available records for speech-language purposes.
  11. Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services.
  12. Provides appropriate information on an informal or formal basis regarding speech, language, and hearing programs.
  13. Major Function:  Adhering to Local, State, and Federal Regulations and Ethical Practices.
  14. Completes procedural documentation appropriately.
  15. Demonstrates knowledge and use of statewide testing procedures.
  16. Abides by professional code of ethics.
  17. Develops appropriate IEP’s based on students’ strengths and needs.
  18. Demonstrates awareness of professional performance in due process matters and litigious environments.
  19. Manages time efficiently.
  20. Engages in continuing education and professional growth opportunities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION: Evaluation of this job will be in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
