QUALIFICATIONS:1. Must possess a minimum of a Master’s degree.
- Must possess current certification in at least one area of special education or a related area with knowledge of special education process requirements.
- Must be knowledgeable of current trends of IDEA regulations.
- Must possess current School Psychological Examiner certification.
- Any alternative or additions to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education Services
JOB GOAL: To help the district, on a continuing basis, to evaluate and revise its methods and procedures so that a consistently high standard of special services and teaching may be achieved and maintained for students with special mental, physical, or emotional needs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the multi-disciplinary teams.
- Be an active participant on the multi-disciplinary evaluation teams
- Act in an advisory capacity to help in determining whether a student is handicapped.
- Supervise the special education process from screening to identification
- Supervise the special education process for IEP development
- Ensure the proper placement of a student with special needs.
- Develop and administer appropriate identification and placement of students with disabilities
- Assist the Director of Special Education in assurance of district compliance with state and federal requirements for the implementation of the IDEA.
- Develops and administers appropriate testings and evaluations to assist in determining whether a student is handicapped.
- Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Superintendent or Board of Education.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Performance Based Teacher Evaluation. |
