QUALIFICATIONS:1. Must possess a minimum of a Master’s degree.

  1. Must possess current certification in at least one area of special education or a related area with knowledge of special education process requirements.
  2. Must be knowledgeable of current trends of IDEA regulations.
  3. Must possess current School Psychological Examiner certification.
  4. Any alternative or additions to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:         Director of Special Education Services

 

JOB GOAL:              To help the district, on a continuing basis, to evaluate and revise its methods and procedures so that a consistently high standard of special services and teaching may be achieved and maintained for students with special mental, physical, or emotional needs.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Coordinate the multi-disciplinary teams.
  2. Be an active participant on the multi-disciplinary evaluation teams
  3. Act in an advisory capacity to help in determining whether a student is handicapped.
  4. Supervise the special education process from screening to identification
  5. Supervise the special education process for IEP development
  6. Ensure the proper placement of a student with special needs.
  7. Develop and administer appropriate identification and placement of students with disabilities
  8. Assist the Director of Special Education in assurance of district compliance with state and federal requirements for the implementation of the IDEA.
  9. Develops and administers appropriate testings and evaluations to assist in determining whether a student is handicapped.
  10. Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Superintendent or Board of Education.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.

 

EVALUATION:       Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Performance Based Teacher Evaluation.
