REPORTS TO:           Building Principal

 

JOB GOAL:  To provide each enrolled student of secondary school age an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sports, and principles of fair play.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Organizes and administers the overall program of interscholastic athletics for the district grades 7 through 8.
  2. Provides leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members.
  3. Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
  4. Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events.
  5. Hires officials, scorekeepers, timers, gatekeepers, and ticket sellers for all home games. Provides schedules to auxiliary police and news media.
  6. Arranges transportation for athletic contest participants.
  7. Develops and places into operation a handbook of policies, rules and regulations for the operation of the athletic program. Keeps coaches and athletes informed of eligibility standards and requirements and, with the cooperation of appropriate administrators, enforces same.
  8. Prepares and administers the athletic program budget.
  9. Requisitions, in cooperation with appropriate staff members, supplies, uniforms and equipment for athletic programs.
  10. Supervises the cleaning, storage and care of all athletic equipment.
  11. Approves and supervises all fund-raising events and projects connected with the athletic program, and assumes responsibility for proper handling and accounting of monies involved.
  12. Arranges all details of visiting team’s needs, including lodging, meals, towels, gymnasium services, and field assistance, as appropriate.
  13. Makes all necessary arrangements for the use of non-school playing fields and facilities.
  14. Provides for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of the season. 
  1. Keeps records of the results of all middle school athletic contests, and maintains a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award.
  2. Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Board of Education or Superintendent of Schools.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

           

 

Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.

 

 

 

EVALUATION:       Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with
                             provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
