QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from program ASHA approved to grant Master’s SLP Degrees OR bachelor’s Degree in other areas with a total of 21 hours in five speech/language areas (Anatomy/physiology, phonetics, development, disorders (acquired & developmental) & clinical methods); 25 hours of SLP observation; and 25 hours of SLP clinical assisting or practicum. Speech Language Pathology – Assistant Registration issued by Missouri Board of Healing Arts.
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
- Any alternative to qualifications as Board of Education agrees to.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: Utilize remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency. These services are designed to help children meet their educational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Major Function: Planning and Oversight
- Implements a program that addresses local school speech-language goals.
- Works Cooperatively with school personnel to accomplish the goals and objectives of the LEA.
- Coordinates speech-language services with student services provided by other school personnel.
- Collaborates with school personnel, such as regular ed. and special ed. teachers and additional Special Ed. staff, to best meet the needs of all students.
- Meets with related school personnel to implement specific objectives for individualized educational programs.
- Maintains records of the speech-language program and prepares periodic reports as required.
- Adheres to established rules, regulations, laws and appropriate ethical standards.
- Major Function: Adhering to Local, State, and Federal Regulations and Ethical Practices.
- Completes procedural documentation appropriately.
- Demonstrates knowledge and use of statewide testing procedures.
- Abides by a professional code of ethics.
- Develops appropriate IEP’s based on students’ strengths and needs.
- Demonstrates awareness of professional performance in due process matters and litigious environments.
- Manages time efficiently.
- Engages in continuing education and professional growth opportunities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
