QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid state license to practice as a Registered Nurse or LPN.
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
JOB GOAL: To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each district student minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the district schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct school health service, and participate with school staff in developing and implementing total school health program.
- Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.
- Conduct regular student screenings, including weight and height checks and vision and hearing screenings, blood pressure screenings, and scoliosis
screening on 6th through 8th grade students.
- Assume responsibility for the care of a student or staff member in accordance with physician signed instruction and proper first aid procedures.
- Assume responsibility for referral of students in need of medical and dental care.
- Report to parents, school personnel, and other agencies on student medical matters when appropriate.
- Check first aid kits and keep them supplied as needed, and keep inventory of district medical supplies and order supplies from yearly allotted budget.
- Authorize exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases in accordance with adopted policies and regulations.
- Sponsor the Future Health Careers Club and assist students in finding information on available health careers.
- Advise on modification of the educational program to meet health needs of individual students.
- Participate in in-service training programs.
- Assist public health agencies in setting up and recording immunizations and TB testing as necessary.
- Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Board of Education or Superintendent of Schools.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel. |
